The CPP Investment Board invests in more than 3,100 public companies around the world, including 500 Canadian companies. As a long-term investor and owner, we believe that responsible behavior by these companies with respect to environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors can generally have a positive influence on corporate financial performance.
As outlined in our Policy on Responsible Investing, first adopted in 2005, we consider ESG factors from a risk/return point of view and encourage companies to adopt policies and practices that enhance long-term financial performance.
We express our views by engaging with companies, both directly and in collaboration with other investors, through voting our proxies and by supporting and using research that seeks to integrate ESG factors in sound financial analysis.
In keeping with our commitment to disclose our responsible investing activities, the Report on Responsible Investing provides a detailed review of our activities and achievements. |
